Böckmann Fahrzeugwerke opens its factory doors to the MEMA network
On 26 August 2026, we welcomed around 40 participants from the MEMA network to our production site in Lastrup. Together with moduco GmbH from Lingen, we gave the guests practical insights into our component manufacturing, the use of modern CNC technologies and a robotic system operating in live production.
Initiated by the Emsland district authorities, the MEMA network connects companies from the metalworking and mechanical engineering sector along the Ems Axis. Its aim is to promote regional cooperation, knowledge transfer and innovation.
Before the factory tour, Justus Böckmann, who runs the company together with Stella and Klaus Böckmann, presented Böckmann Fahrzeugwerke, our product range and the company’s 70-year history. The guests were then given a behind-the-scenes look at our component manufacturing.
The focus was on the pre-production of key components for our horse and car trailers. Using modern CNC technologies, we manufacture these components efficiently and precisely—an important prerequisite for the consistently high quality of workmanship for which Böckmann has stood for seven decades.
A particular highlight was the inspection of the robotic system supplied by moduco GmbH, which is used in our daily production operations. Stephan Feldker, founder and managing director of moduco, first explained the wide range of applications for the company’s modular robotic solutions. Thanks to standardized modules, the systems can be expanded at any time or adapted for other applications.
Visitors were then able to see first-hand how robotics supports our production processes. The automated solution precisely loads and unloads flat, plate-shaped components made from various materials at our CNC machining centre. The system handles large-format sheets measuring up to 3,020 millimetres in length and 2,100 millimetres in width.
By dividing the milling machine into two separate working areas, the robot can supply the system in an efficient alternating cycle. This reduces idle times and significantly lowers the personnel requirements during ongoing operations.
In addition to the factory tour, the visit gave all participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss technical topics.
